Walking up Bridge Street from the old bridge you'll pass by the old River Store, heavily
reconstructed after the rock crushing plant closed in the late 1960's. It housed a
grocery and liquor store and meat market, and the south side of the building, a
rooming house. The store served residents on the south side of the river on the
dredges and rock crusher as well as the seasonal agricultural workers that tended
the orchards. In recent times, it's mostly been a series of religious meeting facilities.
Continue up Bridge Street to Temescal and stop on the corner at the Fremont Building.
